The village of Charminster lies 2 miles north of Dorchester, the County Town of Dorset. I moved to the village with my parents in 1952 and lived there for the next 18 years. It is a comparatively large village with a population of about 2000.

Recently I began collecting postcards of the village, thinking there would only have been a few produced, but in fact I already have well over 30, and know of others which I have not yet seen for purchase. I subsequently decided to find as many of the original locations as possible, and take photographs to see how that part of the village has, or has not, changed over the years.

The results are shown in this Web Site. If you have any comments, please feel free to contact me at the e-mail address at the bottom of each page. Also, if you have any postcards of Charminster in your own collection, I would be delighted to hear from you.
